Relic reflects on how value shifts over time. In Georgian Britain, pineapples were once rare symbols of wealth, displayed as extravagant centrepieces rather than eaten. Today they are cheap and abundant, made possible through intensive industrial farming methods that have come at a cost to the soil.
This image questions what we choose to value, and what is lost in the pursuit of abundance. Could the pineapple one day return to luxury status, not because of rarity alone, but because healthy, fertile soil itself has become precious?
